1. Scope of this Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to information collected through our Website and related online services in the United States and Canada. 2. Information We Collect

Parent/Guardian Registration

• When you register an account, your email address is collected via Google Sign-In or AWS Cognito.
• No birthdate, age, or address is collected.

Child Account Creation

• Parents may create child accounts by providing a display name and an email address.
• The display name is used solely for display purposes when the child logs in and does not need to be the child’s real name.
• Grade, School, City, and State are shared with IAC as per their request. After this information is shared, it is deleted from our systems within 30 days.
• We do not collect or require any additional personal information about children (e.g., last name, birthdate, or age).

Payment Information

• Payments are processed via Stripe; we do not store payment details.

Automatically Collected Data

• We collect limited technical information such as IP address, device type, and browser type solely for internal operations, including system diagnostics, security, and error logging. This data is not used to identify individual users, is not combined with personal information, and is retained only for a short period.
• We use a temporary session cookie to keep users logged in while they use the Website. This cookie does not contain personal information, expires after a short period of inactivity, and is deleted along with the related session data. No cookies are used for advertising, tracking, or behavioral profiling.
• We use Google Tag Manager to understand how users navigate the Website (for example, which pages are most visited). This is used only to improve site performance and user experience. It is not used for advertising, behavioral tracking, or profiling.

• To manage user accounts via AWS Cognito.
• To deliver quiz materials and improve Website performance.
• To send notifications related to account management and updates.
• To comply with legal obligations and protect our rights.

4. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

• Limited Data Collection: We collect only a display name, an email address, and the child’s Grade, School, City, and State. The display name is used solely for login display purposes and does not need to be the child’s real name.
• Use of Data: The display name and email address are used only for account login, password resets, and limited service-related communications. Grade, School, City, and State are shared with IAC as per their request, after which this information is deleted from our systems within 30 days.
• Parental Control: Parents or guardians must create their own account first and then add child accounts. They can review, modify, or delete their child’s account information at any time by logging into the parent dashboard or contacting us directly.
• No Additional Information: We do not collect or request other personal information about children, such as last name, birthdate, or age.
• Quiz Data Handling: Quiz results may be stored temporarily to support the learning experience. After 30 days, individual results are deleted, and the data is aggregated and anonymized for service improvement.
• No Persistent Tracking: We do not maintain persistent profiles of children or track their behavior across sessions or services.
• Parental Consent: By creating a child account, parents explicitly consent to:
  • Temporary storage of quiz results,
  • Sharing Grade, School, City, and State with IAC for competition purposes,
  • Association of quiz results with the child’s account credentials, and
  • Enabling limited personalization features (e.g., progress tracking) if applicable.

5. Disclosure of Information

• We do not sell or rent personal information to third parties for marketing or any other purpose.
• Data is shared with AWS (authentication) and Stripe (payments) as necessary.
• Information may be disclosed if required by law.

6. Embedded YouTube Videos

The Website has embedded links to YouTube videos. These YouTube videos are curated for kids who love learning through videos. Please note that ads shown in the videos are controlled by YouTube, and we have no affiliation with Google Ads. For more information, please review YouTube’s Privacy Policy.

7. Parental Rights and Choices

• Parents can access and update their own account information and their child’s login details through the parent dashboard.
• Marketing emails can be unsubscribed at any time.

8. Data Retention

• Quiz Results: Quiz results are retained temporarily to support the learning experience and are deleted after 30 days. After deletion, only aggregated and anonymized data may be used to improve the service.
• School Information: Grade, School, City, and State information is shared with IAC solely for competition purposes and is deleted from our systems within 20 days after sharing.
• Account Information: Parent and child accounts remain active during the competition season. All accounts are deleted at the end of the season, following July of each year.

9. Data Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical security measures to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of your information. These measures include secure hosting environments, encryption of data in transit (HTTPS), and strict access controls. While we endeavor to safeguard information, no security system is impenetrable, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. AI and Machine Learning

• Data Privacy: No personal data or user information is ever shared with third-party AI providers.
• No Training on User Data: User data is not used to train our AI models.
• Purpose of AI Use: AI and machine learning are applied solely to enhance the learning experience, including presenting practice questions, generating study materials, and identifying weak areas to provide personalized practice recommendations.

11. International Users

The Website is intended primarily for users in the United States and Canada. If you access our services from outside these regions, please note that your personal information may be transferred to and processed in the U.S. or Canada.
